Pin Trading March 2010
12 comments

Wow, it’s been almost 3 months since I last checked this blog!

I’ve actually taken a hiatus of sorts, from all my pin collecting. My pin collections are still around though, sitting in neat plastic boxes in my room! hehe :) I do intend to sort through them all, & get everything displayed nicely someday – when I get the time & energy to do so!

Surprisingly, there’s still a steady flow of visitors to this blog – an average of 30~50 each day, for the past 3 months!  Thank you all for visiting my site & I do hope that my old blog posts will continue to provide the information that you seek in your pin collecting adventures! :D

If you have left a comment but it hasn’t yet been replied, rest assured that I will try my best to approve & reply each & every comment, as soon as I can! :)

Happy pin collecting & pin trading!

Cheers,
superquatchi :D

Haven’t updated in a long while, but thought I’d post about this lovely pin that arrived as a surprise in the mail!

Limited Edition 99 Days to Go (Non-Retail) Lyo & Merly pin

This version is the non-retail variation of my other 99 Days to Go pin.  Apparently this unique pin was given out only to invited guests at the 99-day countdown celebration in Singapore! Lovely! :D

Wrapping up my pin collecting / trading for now.. Just thought I’d post pics of my Shanghai 2010 Expo pins, as earlier promised! Enjoy! :D

Chinese Zodiac Animals with Expo mascot (Haibao):
Horse | Sheep | Dragon | Rat

Mascot Haibao:
Longevity | Happiness | Prosperity | Peace

Expo (some building) | 7 Days to Go

Haibao playing tennis | Chile @Expo 2010

LED lights Chinese New Year Haibao mascot

Countries/Cities @Expo 2010:

Expo 2010 Volunteer pin | Expo round pin

Backstamp of Volunteer pin: Unique ID of the volunteer

Apparently, the volunteers at the Expo were warned not to trade off their unique ID Volunteer pins.  My mom tried asking several volunteers, and finally, after some disappointments & great efforts, she managed to get her hands on one! ;) hehe

I’ve also uploaded some new pins from Beijing 2008 that my mom managed to trade for @the Expo. They’re updated in the post here!

Cheers! :D

I recently found these lying around in one of my drawers.. I must’ve bought them awhile ago, because the current rate for International stamps has now gone up to CAD$1.70!

Hehe.. another Quatchi collectible for my Quatchi collection! :D

I’ve decided to start a new “Feature Pin” series on this blog, to introduce some of my favourite trader pins! :D

To kick-start the series, I have here a personal fave from my Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games pin collection:

*99 Days to Go 3-piece detachable pin set [Limited <999]

This beautiful pin set is special in so many ways..

  • Limited Edition, <999 pieces
  • Oversized
  • It’s 3 pins in 1!
  • Countdown (99 Days to Go)
  • Dated 07.05.2010 [7 May 2010]
  • The detachable mini-Lyo & mini-Merly pins can be worn separately from the bigger 99 Days to Go pin!
  • Only available at the Olympic Superstore location (ie, not available via the Online store)

In addition to the above features, it also has the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games emblem & Olympic rings, together with the actual text, at the bottom of the ’99′.

Definitely a collector’s item, and a fun set to have! (I especially love the detachable mini mascot pins! hehe :P )

I only have 2 of these Limited Edition pin sets available for trade, so drop me a comment/email if you’re interested to trade for this pin set! :D

Here’s my collection of pins from the first ever Youth Olympic Games – to be held in Singapore this August!

Limited Edition 99 Days to Go (Non-Retail) Lyo & Merly pin

That’s all for now! When the Youth Olympic Games roll around in August, I will probably have more to add to my collection! :D

Last Saturday, I headed down to Richmond for a mini pin meetup with Michael & Joanne, fellow pin collectors & long-time readers of superquatchi blog! It was nice sharing pin stories & seeing you guys’ collections!

Thanks Michael for the Sumac Ridge pin, and the Panasonic Quatchi pin trade! I’m glad that the pins I traded to you can help you get a step closer to completing your wineries & CTV sets! ;)

In the past week, I’ve also managed to complete my Cold-FX set with the last pin I was missing – the slider hockey goalie! Thanks Jamie for the trade! :) This pin is unique because the goalie is able to slide from side to side to protect his net!  Although I’m not a hockey fan, Canada did win the Gold medal for both men’s and women’s hockey.. So this pin is definitely a symbolic keepsake of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic games!

Here are my new pins:

Panasonic: Quatchi alpine skiing | Omega: snow-capped mountain [Limited <2500] | Sumac Ridge Estate Winery
ICBC: alpine skiier [Limited <5000] | Cold-FX: slider hockey goalie

I’ve also recently received my order of the Most Gold Ever Exclusive Oversized Medal Count Pin.  Here’s an excerpt of the pin’s description, from the Vancouver 2010 online store:

“Own a piece of history with this exclusive, limited-edition pin, celebrating Canada’s Olympic success at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games.

This large, oversized pin features an Olympic podium with the number of gold, silver and bronze medals captured by Canadian athletes – 14 gold medals, 7 silver medals and 5 bronze medals.”

It’s definitely a beautiful commemorative pin to celebrate Canada’s Olympic triumphs!

On a different note, my folks have returned from their travels, and have brought back with them a treasure trove of pins (& other cute souvenirs!) from the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games, as well as the Shanghai 2010 Expo!

The mascots:
Singapore 2010 – Lyo & Merly | Shanghai 2010 Expo – 海宝 (Haibao)

Stay tuned for updates on the super cute mascots & the new pins they got me! :D

This August, the first ever Youth Olympic Games will be held in Singapore, my hometown! :D To find out more about the games, check out the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games official website, here. The mascots, Lyo & Merly, are super cute!! Click on each poster below to learn more about the mascots & their symbolism:

I’m super excited, because my dad just emailed me pics of some of the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games pins that my folks have bought for me from the Olympic Superstore in Singapore! :D

Here’s a sneak preview (pics taken with dad’s cellphone camera):

Some of the above pins are Limited Edition, and a few are also only available at the Olympic Superstore location (ie, not available via the Online store).

I’ll upload more pics, as well as update with a Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic pin collection post later, when the pins get here next week!! hehe :D

I’ve also asked my folks to get me 1-2 extras of some of the cuter pins, so those will become some of my most precious traders! ;)

Do drop me a comment if you’re interested in trading, and I can reserve my limited quantities of traders for you! (For the most part, I’ll be looking to trade for the rarer pins from my Wanted list, but I will also consider all comparable trades!)

Looking forward to the arrival of my Singapore 2010 pins! hehe :D

The Pacific Pin Club had a 2-day pin show this weekend – the 2010 West Coast Pin Collectors Celebration.  I took a long drive out to North Burnaby yesterday afternoon to check it out..

The turn out wasn’t as good as the first Pacific Pin Club Pin Show I’d attended (at the end of the Paralympics).  This time, there were a lot less collectors/traders present!  However, I still managed to trade for several cute & nice pins!  Here’s what I got today:

BCLC Hockey | RBC: 2007 Three Years to Go [Limited <2500] | RBC: 2008 Two Years to Go [Limited <2500]
*Sleep Country mascots | Team  Équipe 2010 Bus Driver 15th Shift volunteer pin | VANOC Internal vancouver2010.com
Lululemon Olympic pin | London 2012: BT 1000 days to go
[Limited <5000] | RBC: Torch Relay torch

I most happy with the 2 volunteer pins I managed to get – the bus driver one, and the vancouver2010.com one! :D Quatchi looks super cute driving a bus, and the vancouver2010.com pin has all 3 mascots + sidekick on it! (MukMuk is seen on the laptop screen! hehe)

My BCLC set is now complete! hehe :P

BCLC set – Complete!:
Snowboard | Hockey
Skiing | One Year to Go
Figure Skating

I also completed the RBC countdown set.  It was unintentional, but since the trade allowed for me to do so, why not? hehe.. :D

RBC Countdown set – Complete!:
2007 Three Years to Go [Limited <2500]
2008 Two Years to Go [Limited <2500]
2009 One Year to Go [Limited <5000]

My small London 2012 pin collection is also starting to grow! Today I managed to get a BT 1000 days to go pin. Although the London 2012 mascots are rather disappointing, the sponsor & non-mascot pins aren’t half bad! :P hehe

London 2012: BT 1000 days to go [Limited <5000]

And.. since I already have a Sleep Country mascots pin, this one I’ve just traded in is available for trade! For a full list of my updated trader pins, go here. Please drop me a comment if you’re interested in trading!

Happy pin collecting & trading! :D
